Aleska Resort and the Mountain
Alyeska Resort, Alaska has been generating quite a buzz of excitement in the skiing community for the last several years while gaining increased national recognition for its unique and impressive offering in the world of destination ski resorts!
Let's start with the obvious. Alyeska Resort gets 621 annual inches of snowfall mid mountain and reports 742 annual inches of snowfall at the peak. Those are just averages however! In the late 90's for two consecutive seasons Alyeska came in at 1,100 inches plus! Alyeska also has an ample 2,500 feet of vertical rise on 1,400 acres of skiable terrain. 68 trails and 9 lifts include a 60 passenger aerial tram, a high speed quad, two regular fixed grip quads, three doubles chairs, and two pony lifts.
Alyeska Resort is becoming well known for its advanced powder filled wide open bowl skiing . Additionally the resort offers lengthy top to bottom intermediate runs allowing intermediate access to the full scope of the mountain. In fact, the resort terrain breakdown is 11% beginner, 52% intermediate, and 37% advanced, making it a popular haven for intermediate skiers with plenty to offer advanced skiers in the form of open bowl powder skiing. To round things out nicely, beginners also get the luxury of their own sheltered beginner trails area where they can hone their skills without having to merge with more advanced skiers. This is a nicely well rounded resort that truly offers something for everyone!
Alyeska Resort Lodging
The beautiful newly remodeled 304 room Hotel Alyeska is the flagship and primary resort property offering direct aerial tram access from the hotel grounds and/or free shuttle service to the mountain located 1 mile away. Two other lifts also transport skiers from the hotel to the mountain base area. The Hotel Alyeska offers Chateaux Style accommodations (think Fairmont) and a complete array of upscale amenities and room types including a world class full service spa. The standard guest rooms have either a King or two double beds and will accommodate up to 3 adults or 2 adults and two children. Ask for the family plan where kids are involved and we will customize your package to suit your specific needs.
The Hotel Alyeska also offers a 2,300 square foot Royal Suite and 3 Townhouse Suites creating great flexibility in accommodation configuration to serve a wide array of needs. Indicative of the entire small municipality of Girdwood where the resort is located, this hotel is surrounded by mountains, towering spruce trees, and hanging glaciers and should be able to accommodate the needs of any type of party whether it be a family, couple, group, or corporate or institutional function.
