Located on the North Shore of Lake Tahoe, Squaw Valley USA became world-famous in 1960 as host to the VIII Winter Olympics. Offering 4,000 skiable acres spread across 6 peaks, 16 open bowls, 3 terrain parks, the most advanced lift network in the US and some of the deepest snow in the world, Squaw Valley USA is a mecca for winter sport enthusiasts. The addition of a European-style village has brought the off-hill experience to par with the terrain. Squaw now has over 50 restaurants, 40 shops, and lively nightlife scene to boot. From first chair to last call, Squaw Valley is nothing short of legendary.
Squaw Valley USA has been a known ski destination since it hosted the 1960 Winter Olympics, and is considered one of the best resorts at Lake Tahoe for expert skiing and snowboarding.
Squaw Valley USA boasts six mountain peaks, ranging in elevation from Snow King's 7,550 feet to Granite Chief at 9,050 feet. The highest lift goes to about 8,700 feet. Average annual snowfall is 450 inches (11 meters). Night skiing usually runs from mid December through early April.
Besides a wide array of ski slopes accessed by over 30 lifts, Squaw Valley USA has three dedicated terrain parks and two halfpipes.
