Beaver Creek Resort and the Mountain

Beaver Creek is one of Colorado's best kept secrets! This is one of the most family friendly resorts in the world period, and the resort is set up to deliver a magical experience for your family ski vacation. Beaver Creek offers plenty of lodging accommodations close to the slopes generally ranging from high end up to the pinnacle of luxury. In fact, Beaver Creek's slogan is "Not exactly roughing it." This attitude is punctuated by magical touches such as escalator access to the lifts, complimentary cookies and hot cocoa served apr�s ski, a great ski school, and a central ice rink in Beaver Creek Village!

What most people do not realize is that Beaver Creek offers exceptional terrain from the most plush corduroy groomers found anywhere that seem to go on forever, to serious steeps and amazing tree skiing. The famous Birds of Prey World Cup Downhill course is a testament to some of the steep pitches available at the top of the mountain. At the other end of the spectrum there are 776 groomed acres available daily for endless cruising possibilities. In its own right this is a formidable mountain with 4,040 vertical feet, 117 trails, 1,805 skiable acres, and 17 lifts including two gondolas. There is plenty of skiing to be done without getting bored for a week or longer. However, as an added bonus, the lift ticket is also good for skiing Vail located about 15 minutes down the Highway.

Beaver Creek Lodging

There are three distinct areas on the mountain offering ski in ski out or near mountain lodging options. Beaver Creek Village is the primary lodging location and contains the majority of amenities including a conference center and ice rink as well as a good cross section of shops and restaurants. Bachelor's Gulch is a quieter lodging base right on the mountain with a select few luxury hotels and condominiums perched in an exclusive location right on the mountain. There are fewer amenities, shops, and restaurants in Bachelor's Gulch however, so shuttling to Beaver Creek Village is an option at night. Arrowhead is a base area consisting purely of lodging with no amenities , shops, or restaurants, but that does have ski-in/ski-out access. Generally Arrowhead is a little more moderately priced than either Bachelor's Gulch or Beaver Creek Village. We recommended that you have a car if staying in Arrowhead because of limited nightime shuttle schedules. The nearby town of Avon also offers several lodging options. Avon lodging to ski Beaver Creek is now very convenient with the 2007 addition of the Riverfront Express Gondola linking Avon to Beaver Creek Resort.
