Copper Mountain Resort and the Mountain

Copper Mountain has been referred to as both the "Perfect Ski Mountain" because of its naturally divided terrain and as the "Local's Favorite" because it often garners the annual distinction of Summit County's favorite ski resort. The resort's location only 75 miles west of Denver International Airport, makes it one of the easiest Colorado destination resorts to access , while its Summit County address puts it within a short drive of Breckenridge, Keystone, and Arapahoe Basin ski resorts (all need seperate lift tickets to ski), as well as the towns of Breckenridge, Frisco, Dillon, and Silverthorne. The abundance of shopping, dining, and nightlife opportunities available in the area is uncommon for most ski destinations.

Copper Mountain truly does have a phenomenal trail system layout! The naturally divided terrain progresses from gentle yet long and abundant beginner runs on the west side of the mountain to an intermediate skier's playground on the central portion of the mountain, and expert terrain on the east side of the mountain keeping skiers of different ability levels from getting in each other's way. This layout combined with a nice distribution of trails for every skier ability and an advanced above treeline bowl system replete with cat skiing options truly makes Copper Mountain a resort that caters to skiers of all ability levels and an especially good choice for a family friendly ski trip.

Copper Mountain offers 2,465 skiable acres with 2,601 vertical feet of terrain and 21 lifts (1 high speed six passenger,4 high speed quad lifts, 5 triple chair, 5 double chair, 2 surface lifts, 4 magic carpet lifts). The resort has 125 trails with an exceptional mix of terrain. The terrain mix is (21% beginner, 25% intermediate, 36% advanced, 18% expert). Copper Mountain is a big resort witha lot of variety.

Copper Mountain Lodging

Lodging options at Copper consist of hotel rooms, studios, and 2-4 bedroom condominiums and townhouses. The units are typically rated on a quality scale consisting of bronze, silver, gold, and platinum. There is only one platinum lodging option, the Cirque, available in the base area and it fills up quick. Ripley's Mountain Adventures can offer you discounted rates on all base are lodging options.

Copper Mountain base area lodging is all located either ski in ski out or a short walk or very short shuttle ride to the lifts. It is difficult to be inconvenienced if staying in the base area. There are two distinct villages where the majority of the lodging is located, the New Village at Copper, and the East Village at Copper. The two villages are seperated by about 200 yards so everything in either location is relatively convenient. Both villages have full high speed lift access to the mountain. The main distinction is that the Center Village or New Village at Copper accesses mostly intermediate terrain and the East Village accesses mostly intermediate and advanced terrain. Most beginner ski school activities take place in either the Center Village or at Union Creek base area located to the west of the Center Village. Union Creek is children's ski school headquarters and many adult beginner lessons also begin at Union Creek. Therefore the New Village at Copper (Center Village) is a bit more convenient to ski school for beginner skiers than the East Village. The Center Village also has the ice rink, conference center, and is the hub of the resort where the majority of the amenities, shops, and restaurants are located. Copper Mountain Resort does have a large athletic center centrally located in the same building as the resort's main check-in. It has a weight room, cardio room, indoot Olympic sized swimming pool and an idoor hot tub. Copper Mountain also ahs a centrally located chapel.
