Deer Valley Resort and the Mountain

Out of all North American Ski Resorts, Deer Valley Resort has experienced a meteoric rise in popularity over the last decade to establish itself as one of the world's premier ski destinations. This perception is largely substantiated by Deer Valley's #1 ranking in the Ski Magazine Reader's Poll for three years running, a title that has recently elevated Deer Valley into the midst of the conversation with a select group of heavy hitting destinations like Vail and Whistler Blackcomb.

Deer Valley's success is largely based on a service philosophy that differentiates it from other resorts by truly pampering guests rather than simply paying lip service to guest amenities. From ski valets waiting to grab your skis as you pull up to drop kids off for ski school , to on-demand shuttle service to and from the ski mountain or into nearby Park City for an evening of dining, entertainment, and nightlife, these touches add up to create a unique guest experience. Additional special touches like private hot tubs that receive daily cleaning and maintenance, overall quality of accommodations and resort infrastructure, daily skier number limitations, and the overall pervasive attentiveness of guest service relations employees have landed Deer Valley at the top as far as guest satisfaction. Guests have responded with loyalty demonstrated by repeat visits and positive word of mouth.

Two things one should know right off of the bat regarding Deer Valley is that the resort is one of the two left in America (the other being Alta) that doesn't allow snowboarders. The other major distinguishing factor separating Deer valley from other resorts is that Deer Valley actively limits the daily number of skiers that it allows on the mountain during peak times. In other words, you will not be fighting crowds in the same manner that you might be at some less exclusive resorts. Deer Valley's ski season generally runs from early December through early to mid April depending on snow conditions. Deer Valley Resort offers a wide variety of terrain ranging from beginner to expert spread out amongst 6 individual interconnected ski mountains. Little Baldy Peak has 9 runs that range from beginner to expert conveniently accessed by the Jordanelle Express Gondola. Serviced by 5 different lifts, Bald Mountain is well known for gladed tree skiing and caters mostly to intermediate and advanced skiers seeking steeper terrain and untouched stashes of powder. Empire offers some of the most advanced terrain to be found at Deer Valley including the well known Daly Chutes. TNT (Tricks and Turns) freestyle Terrain Park is also located on Empire. Bald Eagle Mountain caters to skiers of all ability levels, but is noted for its separate unintimidating beginner trail area known as Wide West that is accessed by two chairlifts. Beginners can graduate to both intermediate and advanced runs without leaving Bald Eagle Mountain. Lady Morgan, the most recent terrain addition at Deer Valley Resort, notably offers intermediates and experts in search of powder more gladed terrain. Flagstaff Mountain really offers everything including fun kid's runs, bowl skiing in Ontario Bowl, to the most popular cross section of intermediate runs at the resort.

Deer Valley has 3,000 vertical feet of terrain at its highest point and 2,026 skiable acres. This acreage is served by an impressive 22 lifts including a gondola and 11 high speed quads. Lift capacity generally far exceeds demand on the mountain making for short lift lines. The resort has 99 runs including 6 bowls and a terrain park.

Deer Valley Lodging

Deer Valley has 3 major lodging base areas within the resort itself. Guests can also elect to stay in nearby Park City, a mere 10 minute drive away. Silver Lake Village is the most prominent base area and the hub of the resort. Silver Lake is located mid mountain and offers the widest abundance of ski-in/ski-out Deer valley Lodging as well as the preponderance of shops and restaurants located within the resort. Popular ski in ski out Deer Valley Condominiums include Silver lake Lodge, Mont Cervin, and the Stag Lodge. Other popular accommodations including the Chateaux at Silver Lake and Black Bear Lodges are located within 300 yards of the mountain with on demand shuttle service at your disposal. The Bellmont homes are popular Deer Valley private vacation home rentals located walking distance to the Silver Dollar Run and a short distance from the Silver Lake base area.

Empire Pass is Deer Valley's newest mid mountain lodging base area that offers a new selection of Deer Valley ski in ski out luxury accommodations. Almost everything located in Empire Pass is ski in ski out and platinum rated. There are fewer amenities in Empire Pass than in either Silver Lake Lodge or Snow Park Village. Guests will enjoy quiet family quality time in their condominiums with ski in ski out access to the lifts and the option of skiing to the dining, shopping, skier services, and amenities located in the other two base areas or take advantage of complimentary on demand shuttle service to access them, or the town of Park City, in the evening. Some of the new Deer Valley condominiums located in Empire Pass include Silver Star Condominiums, Shooting Star Condominiums, and Arrow Leaf Condominiums. The Paintbrush homes are some of Deer Valley's newest premiere ski in ski out private vacation home rentals located in Empire Pass.

Snow Park is the original Deer Valley base area named after the original Snow Park Resort that was Deer Valley's predecessor. Snow Park has ski in ski out condominium options including Black Diamond Condominiums and Trails End Condominiums as well as a lot of options located a short walk or shuttle ride from the lifts including Powder Run Condominiums and Comstock Lodge. Ripley's Mountain Adventures offers nice discounts on Silver Lake Village lodging, Empire Pass lodging, and Snow Park Village Lodging.
