Boulder is located thirty miles northwest of Denver. The entire region is a paradise for hiking, cycling, rock climbing and almost every kind of outdoor activity except surfing. Boulder is a bicycle town, no doubt about it. And the best place to enjoy your bike ride is Boulder Creek Path, which is also great for jogging, walking and in-line skating. The seven-mile path parallels Boulder Creek as it stretches from the east end of town and its prairie dog colonies to the west end and Boulder Canyon. During warm months keep an eye out for inner-tubers - Boulder Creek is a hot spot for kids and teenagers to cool off. If you're visiting beautiful Boulder, head to Chautauqua Park for some fresh air, picnicking, and a little culture thrown in for good measure. Events such as the Summer Concert Series, the Colorado Music Festival, and the Silent Film Series bring out everyone from well-heeled young professionals to the hippies for which this liberal, laid-back college town is known. Don't forget to take a trip down the Pearl Street pedestrian mall - Boulder's little mecca of chic boutiques, unique art galleries, and great restaurants. The charismatic, four-block, tree-lined area is home to trendy chains and countless independently owned clothing boutiques, music stores, wine shops, and, of course, several sporting goods retailers. Colorful and eclectic Pearl Street is a little piece of urban heaven in a town that symbolizes the great outdoors.
