24 Hours in Brown's Canyon (CLASS III)

An excellent weekend getaway! This trip is the Arkansas Valley Specialty trip set up as an overnight. You'll arrive mid-afternoon the first day, raft into Browns Canyon, camp and have dinner in the canyon. A gear raft with all of your personal gear and provisions for the overnight will accompany you.You'll awake to a delicious breakfast in the canyon, paddle out mid-morning and be back at your car before noon the second day.Bring your sleeping bag; we'll handle everything else. If you don't have a sleeping bag, check with the office to arrange rental or just take your guide's!Minimum age 5 yrs/50 lbs. (Age requirements may changedepending on water levels and individual qualifications.)

This trip offers Colorado's incredible scenic beauty with 14,000-foot Mountains, valleys, & canyons accompanied by miles of whitewater fun for all ages! The adventure begins immediately with whitewater rapids like the Silver Bullet Dam & Beaver Falls and continues through the beautiful Arkansas Valley and down into the famous Brown's Canyon. Brown's Canyon (CLASS III)

The plunge through Pinball, Zoom Flume, Big Drop, Staircase, Widowmaker, Raft Ripper, Seidel's Suckhole and Twin Falls will be an experience you will never forget. However, it is suitable for beginning rafters starting with easy whitewater, giving beginners enough experience in the first part of the trip so they can enjoy the big rapids in Brown's Canyon. This trip is great for people on a schedule or who are just looking for a quick introduction to whitewater rafting. You'll enjoy class III rapids, with names such as Wake up, Maytag, Car Crash, Hopscotch and more. This amazing gorge can be enjoyed by all ages!

Brown's Canyon / Bighorn Sheep Canyon Combination (III-IV)

Your first day starts in Brown's Canyon, featuring some of the best whitewater in Colorado. The plunge through Pinball, Zoom Flume, Big Drop, Staircase, Widowmaker, Raft Ripper, Seidel's Suckhole and Twin Falls will be an experience you will never forget. Your second day takes you to Bighorn Sheep Canyon, also known as "Parkdale," packed with fun whitewater and great rapids ranging from class III-IV. This trip combines beautiful scenery and spectacular rapids including Gosh Awful, Texas Creek, Maytag, Devil's Hole and Lose Your Lunch. Rapids are separated by stretches of quiet water, giving ample time to enjoy the beauty of the canyon. The biggest rapids are on the lower half of the Bighorn Sheep Canyon and include Three Rock Falls, Five Points, Spike Buck, Shark's Tooth, Double Dip and Puppy. This trip is suitable for first timers or experienced rafters. Brown's Canyon/Bighorn Sheep Canyon trips run from early May through late August. Guest will have the option of camping on the river or staying in town on overnight trips. When camping on the river, meals will be provided (lunch through lunch). When staying off the river guest will be responsible for their own lodging and meals.

3 Day Canyon Overnight (III-V)

The ultimate overnight experience in Colorado! Your first two days are full of Class III whitewater fun. The first night you'll camp in the majestic and remote Brown's Canyon while your guides prepare a gourmet dinner for you. Hiking and fishing options abound at camp, or just relax under the stars. Wake up to a delicious breakfast and raft the rest of the canyon through rapids like Zoom Flume, the Seven Stairs and Seidel's Suckhole. After your second day of paddling, we take you to a riverside camp further north in the Arkansas Valley. In the morning, after a hearty breakfast, prepare to run the most exhilarating whitewater on the Arkansas, the Class IV & V Pine Creek and the Numbers-also known as "The Gauntlet!" This trip provides the perfect progression from intermediate to the most advanced whitewater. We take care of all the details; all you need to bring is your sleeping bag.

You then move onto the rapids of the Royal Gorge. Royal Gorge rafting is quintessential Colorado whitewater - towering thousand-foot canyon walls and thrilling rapids! Nicknamed the Grand Canyon of Colorado this trip will take you down the Arkansas River, under the world's highest suspension bridge and through up to class V rapids such as Sunshine Falls, Sledgehammer and Boat Eater, just to name a few. Brown's Canyon/Royal Gorge trips run from early May through late August. Guest will have the option of camping on the river or staying in town on overnight trips. The most advanced section on the Arkansas River begins in the little mountain town of Granite, which quickly fades away as you enter the exciting Granite Gorge. These Class III and IV rapids are merely a warm-up for what comes next. Get ready to paddle hard as you journey through the Rite of Passage, the gates of Pine Creek, where the river narrows by half. Here you'll encounter the most continuous rapids in the state. This is where the river becomes a creek and its gradient drops an astounding 200 feet with a must-make crux move. This run demands good physical condition and a minimum age of 15 years is required.

The Gauntlet (III-V)

The most advanced section on the Arkansas River begins in the little mountain town of Granite, which quickly fades away as you enter the exciting Granite Gorge. These Class III and IV rapids are merely a warm-up for what comes next. Get ready to paddle hard as you journey through the Rite of Passage, the gates of Pine Creek, where the river narrows by half. Here you'll encounter the most continuous rapids in the state. This is where the river becomes a creek and its gradient drops an astounding 200 feet with a must-make crux move. You barely have time to catch your breath before starting on The Numbers. Each Class III-V rapid is punctuated by continuous whitewater in between, including a steep ledge drop into No. 5. This run demands good physical condition and a minimum age of 15 years is required. Hot gourmet lunch included.

The Numbers (III-V)

The pioneer whitewater enthusiasts who first ran this northern section of the Arkansas didn't bother to label rapids with intimidating names describing their thrills. They are simply numbered, but you may lose track counting off the 8 rapids on this section. Each Class III-V rapid is punctuated by continuous whitewater in between, including a steep ledge drop into No. 5. The paddling demands good physical condition and a minimum age of 15 years. Half day trips leaving in the morning and afternoon are available in addtion to full day trips. Lunch is included on full day trips.
